After reading a few bits online about The Amazing Spiderman 2, I’ve had some thoughts.
Of course I’ve seen it. I saw it the day it came out for goodness sake.
But I saw something online today which had me intrigued…
Mary Jane was supposed to be in it!
Shailene Woodley from Divergent and upcoming romcom The Fault In Our Stars was cast to play Mary Jane and was filmed in some scenes playing her. However Mark Webb, director of the two recent Spiderman films, decided to cut her scenes. This was so Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) could be Peter’s (Andrew Garfield) main love interest.
Now this interested me because I was wondering after the second film when Mary Jane was going to get brought into it.
After reading an interview with her about it, she said that she was bummed they cut the scenes but she understands why Webb did it. She also hasn’t ruled out playing Mary Jane in future films. However she did state that she would be focusing on the Divergent series and she thinks that she wouldn’t have time to play Mary Jane with that series being such a big part of her life.
I also think that the director of The Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2 Mark Webb’s name is very ironic.
And I’m CRAZY excited for The Amazing Spiderman 3 to see what happens after the perfection that was number two.
