Last week, it was Kane’s 23rd birthday and what a way to celebrate than spend the whole week together doing lots of different things.
I decided to to take a heck load of photos as I thought the week would make a great post which has lead me here!
The first thing we did was go out for a meal to Chiquito’s with Kane’s family.
Here’s a snap of what I had which was the Spicy Chicken Quesadillas with a side of sweet potato fries which I am just OBSESSED with.
The meal was very tasty with the warming chicken, gooey cheese and the perfectly salted fries.
My meal was accompanied by a classic cocktail, the fruit Berry Sling which was refreshing and didn’t even taste alcoholic!
We only had one course as we had a whole tonne of cake to eat at home…
On Wednesday (Kane’s birthday) we had a bit of a lazy day as we had to wait in for contractors (boo) but it was really nice.
In the evening we had an event to show our face at so we got ourselves dolled up and caught the bus to Nottingham.
I chose to wear my lovely velvet boots (which you can read all about here) and my Forever 21 wrap around black dress.
When we arrived in Notts, we popped over to Revolucion de Cuba for a few bevvies before we headed over to the event.
Of course, it was happy hour so we had to take full advantage!
I had the festive named Elf & Safety which was dusted with icing sugar to look like snow (love it) and Kane chose the classic Zombie.
I love Revolucion de Cuba’s cocktails because they’re all handmade, delicious and quite cheap during happy hour.
The next ones we tried were the Mad hatter adorned with a fitting playing card and a Mangoes To Cuba (punny).
These were super fruity and, of course, full of rum goodness.
After the punchy cocktails, we headed next door to Singh’s for their new menu launch.
They’re known for their fine Indian food and were holding a launch party to showcase their brilliant interior and foods.
Me and Kane stayed for around two hours, where we had a few more to drink.
After munching on a few canapes, we thanked the lovely staff and I waved goodbye to a few bloggers I knew there.
We headed over to Annie’s Burger Shack, located just off the Lace Market, because we’d heard nothing but good things about it.
After being seated in the hugely busy restaurant, we were presented with our drinks.
I saw the word cherry and immediately wanted to try the Jolly Rancher cocktail which was everything wonderful- sweet, tangy and certainly made me jolly.
Kane had a gingerbread milkshake with an added Amaretto shot which was a match made in heaven and would certainly make anyone drift off to sleep.
When our food arrived, I could not have been happier.
I had the Peppino Pizza burger which was a combination of a beef patty, salad, gooey cheese, marinara sauce, mini pepperoni all sprinkled with Italian herbs and Parmesan. I was in absolute awe of this beauty accompanied by sweet potato fries.
It was tasty, juicy and had so much flavour, I demolished it all easily.
Kane had The Broadway which was a burger and salad topped with a sausage patty, chicken breast, a slather of bacon and melted cheese. This truly was a monster but he managed to tuck it away nicely.
By this point, we were slightly drunk, tired and ready to get into bed. We ran for our bus back and got home to bed.
When we woke up, we had a long day ahead of us because we were travelling to Liverpool for the night.
After catching our train around 11am with a big cup of Costa, we had chance to relax for a while.
As our second train was delayed for a while, we could check in to our hotel as soon as we got there and could have a quick rest before we ventured out.
We stayed in The Nadler, a hotel we had previously visited earlier in the year for my birthday.
What we love about this hotel so much is that it’s in the middle of everything, the staff are so lovely and it’s very reasonable priced through Trivago!
After dropping off our bags and quickly freshening up, we left to have a wander round the bustling city.
I was determined to find the Christmas market which is perfectly placed just outside Lime Street Station.
The market wasn’t huge but it was big enough to keep you engrossed and excited. Just towards the end of the walk there was a German sausage stall so OF COURSE we had to get a Bratwurst – delicious by the way.
After wandering back through town and drinking some cider in a Spoons, we went back to the hotel to get ready for our evening out.
Just a cheeky selfie before we went out for food, Kane never smiles!
After eating lots of different cuisines last week, the only thing left to try was Italian so after some googling, we chose to venture to the Amalia Italian Restaurant.
I would seriously recommend this place because it was UH-MAZING! Kane even said that the pizza was the best he’s ever had and we’ve had A LOT of pizzas.
I would consider booking a table though because it gets very, very busy.
I chose to try the Pizza Amalia which was tomato based with mozzarella, covered in Antipasti meats like salami, parma ham and mortadella .
Look at this beauty?! It really was beautiful too with hand stretched dough, sweet tomato base and stringy cheese with perfectly tangy meats.
Kane had a BBQ Meat Fest which was an absolute beast but he eat the whole thing quite happily.
For dessert we had these Cannolis – something I’ve been wanting to try ever since I started watching Cake Boss.
Don’t they just look mouth-watering? They were thick pastry tubes dipped in chocolate then filled with ricotta cream with chocolate chips, a sweet orange strip and dusted with icing sugar.
After these, me and my lovely were well and truly bursting at the seams.
We decided to head off for a cocktail at where else than favourite, The Alchemist.
I had always wanted to visit one so we had the perfect chance to whilst Mersey side.
I chose the Melbuccino (the one in the back) which was shaken vodka, vanilla liqueur and milk topped with espresso foam. This was a twist on a Flat White Martini and was bitterly delicious.
Kane had the Colour Changing One which start off clear, turned blue and then red. This was an interesting one as it had LOADS of dry ice involved and was smoking like a trooper.
We then went back to our hotel for a good night’s sleep before a long day of shopping.
We woke up bright and early to go and grab all those Black Friday bargains but before that, we needed some fuel!
This scrumptious brekkie was from Leaf located on Bold Street which has the biggest stocking of tea I have ever seen!
The Eggs Benedict was mine and the traditional Full English was Kane’s – perfect for a day of shopping.
After scoffing our breakfasts into our hungry bellies, we knew we had a long day ahead of us.
Now we did buy a good few Christmas presents but I ended getting a few things for myself too; Kane even got himself a lovely grey trench coat from Topman on sale!
My favourite purchase of the day and perhaps like EVER was these beauties.
I’ve been after some grey suede knee high boots for MONTHS but all the ones I have seen have just been too expensive. But then I saw these…
Last pair, in my size for only £22.50 reduced from £45 from New Look. If you want them yourself, they can be found here.
I am so so so happy I finally have some and I’ll be wearing them all the time from now on – I feel so sassy in them!
Next up was a pretty knit from one of my favourite shops, H&M.
This colour green is my favourite at the moment because it goes perfectly with black and grey AND it suits me pretty well.
This wonder was only £7.99 and H&M had 20% off everything on Black Friday – perfect for this bargain queen.
It’s not too thick and slightly cropped so perfect paired with some high-waisted jeans.
Now onto Primark…
Who doesn’t love some festive socks this time of year? Not me, that’s for sure…
I probably have far too many socks as it is but I’m a sucker for the cosy, warm ones.
These were only £2.50 and they have them in a variety of colours and styles. It’s the perfect stocking filler.
The other thing I got from Primark was this silky beaut.
I’ve loved velvet for years and now it’s officially in fashion, there’s so much more for me to choose from!
They had these in different colours but I fancied a change from black so I chose this light silvery grey which will be perfect for party season.
I’m excited to pair this with some leather look skinnies and some pretty heels.
This was only £6 and they have it in black and burgundy too.
After all the shopping, we caught an earlier train and finally got back to the warm with a nice cup of tea.
I had such a great time celebrating Kane’s birthday with him in a few different cities but you cant beat being at home with a warm cuppa and biscuits. Speaking of which, I might go make one!
That’s all for now, see you soon x
