Get Cosy This Christmas with The Cosy Club

Now that Halloween’s passed and the dark nights are creeping in, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas and what better way to kick off the festivities than tucking in to a scrumptious meal at The Cosy Club!

Whether you’re the Chief Organiser (like me) for the work Christmas meal, booking a meal with friends or celebrating with family, The Cosy Club has an array of different packages to choose from.

You can Pre-order drinks to save you hassle on the day with choices like Mulled Wine, Fizz, Beer bottles or even a selection of Cocktail and Mocktail Pitchers.

I recently popped along to a Christmas tasting with my bestie Jess to try out literally EVERYTHING they have included on the menu and my goodness, you will not be disappointed.

To kick things off were given a glass of fizz each which was an instant winner for me and the perfect way to make me feel festive. Our table was laden with crackers, perfect touch, menus of what we would be tasting and a big burning candle to add a little ambience.

We also were offered a drink of our choice so I chose a Rhubarb & Ginger Bramble which was the perfect concoction for a dark and cold evening. It was warming, tart and delicious!

It wasn’t long before the food began to appear…

The starter board consists of Smoked Salmon Blinis, Baked Camembert with Sourdough Soldiers and Fig & Date Chutney, Halloumi & Sweetcorn Bites, Cumberland Pig in Blankets, Mushroom, Tarragon & Chestnut Pate and Slow-cooked Pork Belly Bites.

My personal faves were the Sourdough & Camembert which is the ideal Christmas starter for me; it’s indulgent and such a treat!

I also love the Halloumi & Sweetcorn Bites which were a tasty veggie option and something a bit different to the usual soup.

The Pork Belly Bites which are marinated with Five Spice & Honey just melted in the mouth and were very moreish – I could have ate 20 and been happy.

Onto the main event…

There are a choice of six main courses on the menu including Vegan, Veggie & Gluten Free options which I think is such a great thing being able to cater for everyone.

The Meaty options include a Norfolk Turkey & Smoked Bacon Pie, Slow Roasted Outdoor Bred Pork Belly (GF), Confit Duck Leg (GF) and Pan-fried Sea Bass.

The Vegan choice was a Beetroot, Carrot & Parsnip Pie which has a Sage & Onion crust on the pastry which is to die for!

The Veggie option and my personal favourite of the six is a Halloumi & Winter Vegetable Wellington – something I didn’t expect to love and completely fell for.

All six mains come with veggies and either dauphnoise potatoes or creamy mash and really, I wish I could have both on my Christmas dinner but alas, I must try to be good.

Highlights include the Halloumi & Veg Wellington (simply a creation from Heaven), the Pigs in Blankets, the Herb Crusted New Potatoes which accompanied the Sea Bass and the Maple Glazed Carrots & Parsnips which feature on a few dishes.

Here you can find me clad with a glass of fizz and the paper hat from my cracker; you’ll find me the smiliest when I’m full of quality food and a few drinks down but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Once we’d attempted to sample all of the mains, it was time for the sweets and I was more than excited – this is my favourite part of a meal.

If you’re looking for a rich, luxurious dessert, try the Chocolate & Orange Torte (texture is silky smooth) or the Chocolate Brownie & Cinder Toffee Trifle (OMG).

There is also a Cheese Selection on the menu for the more savoury soul or a classic Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce.

My personal fave of the five is the Limoncello Cheesecake, it was light, zingy and the coulis set it off perfectly.

If that’s not enough, you can finish off your meal with a coffee and a Mince Pie or if you’re feeling that little bit cheeky, you can go for an Espresso Martini like I did.

Sometimes you need that caffeine kick to keep you awake for the journey home and Cosy’s syrup stock will have you drooling.

If you’re looking to book with The Cosy Club for Christmas, you can get three courses for £27.95 and they have 15% off for selected dates so get in quick! Welcome drinks start from £3.95 and can be added on to the booking at any time.

Thanks so much to The Cosy Club on Victoria Street, Derby for having us over, I had a blast!
